This easy-to-use test kit provides rapid results that indicate whether a person has recently used any of an array of common drugs or has consumed alcohol.

Drug and alcohol tests have become a routine part of many jobs and are also sometimes undertaken in other settings, such as schools, universities or on the sports field.

Our at-home test kit simplifies the process by swapping urine samples for a saliva sample – which can be done in the presence of the tester without fear of embarrassment (or third party interference).

The test uses what is known as monoclonal antibodies to identify elevated levels of specific drugs and alcohol in saliva.

It can help to prevent alcohol misuse, identify drug users and provide comfort to business leaders in safety-critical industries such as construction, public transport and the armed forces.

Our Drug and Alcohol Test kit contains everything you need to take a saliva sample and test it immediately. There is no need to send off the sample to a laboratory.

Inside the box you will find:

  • 1 x collection sponge
  • 1 x test cup
  • 1 x colour chart
  • 1 x set of instructions

This simple drug testing kit can be used in any setting where knowing that someone has recently used drugs or consumed alcohol is important.

One such setting may be the workplace: workplace drug testing has become commonplace in many industries. Unlike urine testing, which requires privacy, this Drug and Alcohol Test Kit can be performed with the person who is submitting the sample being in the same room as the person who is overseeing the test.

This can minimise interference, and results can be seen in under 10 minutes. As well as being a simple and effective solution for alcohol testing, this kit can detect a wide variety of drugs, including marijuana, cocaine, ketamine, benzodiazepines, opiates and amphetamines.

Gathering and testing your sample

  1. Important: please allow the testing cup and specimen to reach room temperature (15-30°C) before testing. For at least 10 minutes before the test, the donor should be prevented from placing anything in his/her mouth. This includes food, drink, tobacco or gum.
  2. Open the sealed pouch and take out the collection sponge and test cup. Remove the packaging from the collection sponge.
  3. Insert the sponge end of the saliva collector into the mouth of the person being tested. For 2-3 minutes, swab the inside of the mouth (including the tongue) in order to collect saliva. Saturation of the sponge can be accelerated by asking the person being tested to gently press the sponge between their teeth and tongue.
  4. Place the sponge into the test cup and screw it in tightly. This helps to release the saliva. Next, place the test cup on a clean, level surface.
  5. Remove the peel-off label from the side of the test cup. Wait for the flow to appear in the test window and start a timer. Note: if the fluid has not appeared in the test window after three minutes, rotate the cup 4-5 times.
  6. Read the test results after 3-10 minutes. If you can clearly see BOTH lines at three minutes or sooner, then the test result is NEGATIVE. If, after 3 minutes, either of the lines is not visible, re-read the test at 10 minutes.
  7. For the alcohol strip, the results should be read after two minutes. Compare the colour of the reading on the reaction pad with the chart provided. This will help you to ascertain the relative oral fluid alcohol level.

There are a growing number of jobs where it is important that employees are tested for drug use or alcohol consumption. As an example, roles in which heavy machinery is being used need employees who can operate safely.

A popular method of testing for drugs is to use a urine sample, but this has some drawbacks. Not only do some people find it intrusive and/or embarrassing, but for the sake of privacy the sample cannot normally be given in the presence of the person in charge of taking the test.

This can lead to complications – such as the donor using ‘clean’ urine provided by another person.

Our Drugs and Alcohol testing kit instead relies on a saliva sample, which can more easily be extracted by the person in charge of the testing. There is less risk of interference and the test can be undertaken openly, in a safe, neutral environment.

The results help to determine if someone has recently used drugs or currently has alcohol in their body. The detection of these substances can then be used to assess the suitability of a candidate or employee.

Drug or alcohol misuse in the UK is a serious problem, with 3.1% of adults showing signs of drug dependence.
